How To Structure Your Goal

Once you’ve determined your goals, it’s time to structure it so that it can move to the next level. And for structuring, you must make thoughts tangible by writing them down. 

You can read and visualize your thoughts once you have made them tangible. You can have self-talk with them, and as a result, you will discover that you have thought in your head, and after putting it down. Is this something that you want to attain, or is this something that you want to be called for in 10-15 years?

Divide your goals to focus better

After you’ve found the answers, you can quickly calculate what your  Lifetime Goals, Long-Term Objectives, short-term projects, and stepping stone targets will be. Remember, you should constantly divide your goals into particular portions or time intervals so that you can focus better.

 Lifetime Goals 

These goals should take you ten years to complete before the end of your life. When you think about yourself in the future, you set certain goals. They are essential to you and assist you in becoming your ideal future self. Because these take the most time, they will naturally change as you grow older and evolve. For example, I have to become an independent person from the ground up, I want to follow good ethics, I never want to purposefully hurt someone, and I want to aid impoverished people with my own money.

Long-Term Objectives

These are your workhorse objectives, which should take 5 to 10 years to complete. Don’t underestimate the power of long-term ambitions. “ You’ve probably heard of one of these statements. Whatever you imagine will bring you the same consequences or circumstances. “ So, constantly think big about what you want to achieve and know that you can do it. It will take time, but it will be achieved. For example, I wish to start a business from the ground up.

Short-Term projects

These are the projects that will assist you in achieving your long-term and lifetime goals. They can take a month, six months, or even a year to complete. These are the projects that have always pushed you to do more and kept you focused on your long-term goals. For example, I’d like to raise my financial income so that I can invest more money in a startup.

Stepping stone targets

These are the transactional targets. They enable you to achieve short-term projects, which in turn enable you to attain long-term and lifelong goals. And, because this is the foundation of short-term projects, they are daily habits that you are developing for the future. The healthier the practices, the wiser the future. For example, I’d like to advance in my career. Like – I want to get a promotion in my job.

Working not only Hard but Smart

Finally, your goals should be SMART: 

S : Specific: distinct and well-defined 

M : Measurable: accurate proportions and dates (milestone)

A: Attainable: must be accomplished 

R: realistic and doable

T: Time-Bound: must have a deadline Relevant to your life

Achieve a little but regularly

So, as you can see, when I choose my theme, my life goals are apparent, and only then can I identify my long-term, short-term, and stepping stone aims. and as a result, I will always be driven and glad to complete all of this. As a result, if you want to reach the milestone, each phase goal must be correct.

  • GOALS SHOULD BE SPECIFIC 

Keep in mind that your resolution should never be too broad. It should not be confused with an umbrella. “I want a job” or “I will find a job,” for example, is such a blanket statement that it should be more specific if you make a resolution like “I want a job in the accounts department as an assistant manager.” It is quite straightforward to accomplish or achieve those goals because you are clear once you specify your goal. It will provide you with the approach we need to take. If you want to keep a commitment or achieve something, you must focus properly. Only then will you have a fair probability of success.

  • GOALS SHOULD BE MEASURABLE

Measurable: Goals must be measurable in order for tangible evidence to be shown along the way. It’s fun to keep track of your achievements! This might be as simple as setting a deadline for yourself. A SMART goal must have indicators for monitoring performance. You won’t be able to determine your progress or whether you’re on pace to meet your objective if there are no criteria. To make a goal measurable, consider the following: 

How many/how much? 

How do I know whether I’ve met my objective? 

What is my evaluation measure? 

For example, based on the precise aim stated above, I would like to purchase a gym membership at my local community center and exercise four days per week in order to be healthy. I plan to reduce two kilograms of body fat per week.

  • GOALS SHOULD BE ATTAINABLE

A SMART objective must be realistic and reachable. This will assist you in determining how to achieve and work toward that objective. The goal’s achievability should be stretched enough to make you feel pushed, yet specified sufficiently so that you can actually attain it. 

Goals should be structured in the same way that a good workout is. They should stretch you just enough to make you feel pushed, but not enough to cause tension or harm. 

Bad I’m going to shed kilos. 

Good: I’m going to shed kilos per week by eating healthy meals instead of processed stuff.

  • GOALS SHOULD BE REALISTIC

A SMART objective must be realistic in the sense that it can be realized given the available resources and time. A SMART goal is likely to be achievable if you believe it is doable. 

It is critical to assess your goal. Make certain that it is both relevant and feasible. 

Like I’d like to generate money as a personal trainer. (Because you enjoy coming to the gym.)

  • GOALS SHOULD BE TIME-BOUND

A SMART goal must be time-bound in that it has a start and finish date. If the goal is not time-constrained, there will be no sense of urgency and, therefore, less motivation to achieve the goal.

Bad: I want to submit a short story in the contest next month.

Good: I’m going to draft an outline for my first short story this Wednesday.

Restrict your distractions

You won’t be able to focus if you treat a goal like an umbrella. You will be caught in a loop because umbrellas have too many diversions. You won’t be able to decide what you genuinely want. As previously said, you won’t work is such a broad statement that it does not describe anything and will lead to confusion. As for where to focus, what’s truly good for you, because you’ll spend the entire time figuring out what kind of career you want and will wind up squandering the most of your time there. When the time comes, you begin to panic, and you will be unable to fulfill that pledge or commitment. It will lead to disappointment, therefore always concentrate on the initial step. If your first step is correct, you have a far better chance of succeeding.

Review and Rationalise your goals

Set your long-term goals first. Then, create a five-year plan with smaller projects that you must complete in order to achieve your lifetime plan. Maintain the process by reviewing and updating your goals on a regular basis. And remember to enjoy the delight of accomplishing your goals when you do.

And this is how a large goal can be achieved if it is broken down into manageable chunks.

Keep in mind, “small stones construct a large building.”
